DR. SINHA's JOURNEY

Dr. Sinha grew up in a small town in India near Darjeeling. On his way to and from school every day, he would walk past numerous people laying on the streets suffering from massive head and neck tumors hanging from their faces. The images of these people left an everlasting imprint on Dr. Sinha. It is this image, that inspired Dr. Sinha to begin his journey to become a doctor and fuels his passion to conduct research in the field of head and neck cancer so that he can make a difference in the lives of the people he walked past every day on his way to school and all patients who are diagnosed with the same fate.

Currently, Dr. Sinha is the Medical Director of Head and Neck Surgery and Watt Family Chair in Head and Neck Cancer Research at The Keck Medical Center of University of Southern California. Recently, he was nominated as one of the Top Doctors of 2020 by the Los Angeles Business Journal. Additionally, In November 2019, he was elected as the President of the Society of University Otolaryngologists. Dr. Sinha completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at USC in 1996 and a clinical fellowship in Microvascular and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Mount Sinai Hospital, New York as well as a clinical fellowship in laryngology in Lyon, France.

His major areas of research are head and neck cancer, thyroid cancer, plastic and reconstructive surgery, robotic surgery, and speech and swallowing. In 2018, Dr. Sinha received the USC Stevens Center for Innovation Technology Commercialization Award for his research and patent regarding a saliva-based early detection diagnostic test. His dedication to patient care, research and education has made him a world authority in head and neck diseases.
